Conditions for Being Listed
- You must be a current 3D Artist Official Subscriber, and must supply identifying information to connect you to your subscriber record in our database.
- The Web URL you provide must be principally for your own personal gallery or resume, and must identify you as an aspiring or working (freelance or employed) artist who works mainly with 3D tools. Also welcomed to participate are hobbyist and fine artists who do not hire out, students, 3D educators, 3D writers and video authors, and those who specialize in writing custom plug-in and other 3D programming code.
- This is an automated do-it-yourself service for our artist subscribers. It is up to you to maintain the correct information for your URL listing.
- A URL may point to your personal artist page on a larger commercial site, but not to a non-personal site itself (commercial, non-personal pages do not qualify). If visitors have to look around on a page or site to find you (the person to be actually listed), that URL does not qualify.
- Don't give a URL that depends on special browser plug-ins, or jumps directly into a VRML scene or any other heavy downloading. Instead, use a URL that first brings visitors to your home or resume page, or to a "middle" page that specifically welcomes and assists visitors coming from the 3D Artists Directory page (see Suggestions below).
- Cohabitating life partners may list jointly in one listing if both exhibit 3D graphics work at the listed URL. Examples:
> Last="Smith", First="Jane & Tom"
> Last="Smith", First="Jane + Tom White"
- Columbine, Inc. and 3D Artist reserves the right to refuse to list a URL that points toward a page or site that 1) doesn't meet the definition and spirit of what the 3D Artists Directory page is about, 2) shows plagiarized or improperly credited images, or 3) presents material unredeemably objectionable to our international, multicultural audience.

Suggestions for Listees
Middle Pages
- middle page - Definition: An Web page, usually simple, that literally is in the middle of a link between two sites, perhaps from an ad banner that points to the advertiser's site. A middle page is on the receiving site so the advertiser can track hits and give a special welcoming message that ushers visitors to some desired spot on the advertiser's Web site.
- One of the few ways to make a listing stand out on the 3D Artist Directory page is to qualify for the special
icon used for links pointing to middle pages.
- Visit our sample middle page with buttons and dummied HTML code for 3DAD listees.
It is easy to create a special URL that jumps visitors from the 3DAD page to a fast-loading welcoming "middle" page on your site that . . .
- Acknowledges and greets visitors arriving from the 3D Artists Directory.
- States whether you are seeking freelance work or fulltime employment (or perhaps "no, but make an offer anyway!").
- Tells your geographic location and willingness to relocate, or your preference and track record for working offsite.
- Prominently mentions appropriate key terms (e.g., forensic animation, low-res modeling, custom 3D programming) and gives the primary 3D application(s) you know and use.
- Helps headhunters quickly evaluate whether you might fit their search. Other capabilities, such as owning a render farm or having connections to pull a project team together, may be of interest to certain visitors.
- Points to your Web art gallery and resume pages, projects history, toolbox talk, etc., including VRML and other page(s) requiring special browser plug-in viewers.
- Points back to the 3D Artists Directory at http://www.3dartist.com/3dad/artists.htm#alfx
where 'x' in #alfx is the lower-cased letter that begins your last name.
- And, in general, says about you and your work what you would like said on the 3DAD page itself!
Also . . .
- If you use this middle page only for the 3D Artists Directory, you may be able to track how many hits you get from this listing, depending on how your ISP reports statistics. (If counting is tied to your home page, then make that be the only jump from your 3DAD middle page.)
- Keep this middle page simple and graphically minimalist (it should be a lot shorter than this explanation!). Warn if the jumps from it are going to require long downloads or browser plug-ins, and tell if you have faster low-graphics access to your pages. Make things easy for people searching lots of sites, as well as for visitors who don't have the capability or patience for graphically intensive sites.
Hint: Headhunters will be searching tons of sites, so have something memorable and fast to get their attention if you're looking for work.
- Do not put an E-mail sendto URL on your 3DAD middle page. Make visitors come into your site and look around before they can send E-mail. This should discourage someone from spamming you by just going down through the 3D Artists Directory. (That's also why we don't put your E-mail address on the 3DAD page.)

If your browser can read HTML forms and respond, then you can fill out our easy 3DAD application FORM. Using the form can speed getting your listing online. Even if you can see the form, however, note that browsers on AOL and some versions of Mosaic may not be able to complete forms, or may transmit data that requires special handling (e.g., AIR Mosaic sends the data in reverse order!).
If you can't use the form, send an E-mail message to <3dad@3dartist.com> with the following information in this order, please:
- Your 3D Artist subscriber #: (5 digits)
Find this # on your mailing label: e.g., 25A24 07123 Last=35.
If not known, type "?" or "unk", but make sure to supply identifying address info below. We cannot process your application if we can't attach your URL to your 3DA subscriber record in our database.
- Is this listing NEW: "yes" or "no"
- Give your personal name as used professionally (no business names):
LAST name, then first name (e.g., "Smith, John"). See above about couples using one listing.
- Your identifying subscriber address:
This does not need to be complete, and is not needed at all if you supplied your subscriber # above.
- Your personal Web URL:
- Your E-mail address:
- Do you want to receive the Tessellation Times full-text E-mail broadcast or a brief notification that the Web version is up: "yes" or "no"
If YES, do you prefer the Web notice: "yes" or "no" (NO or blank = full text broadcast)
Please be patient about seeing your site posted to the 3D Artists Directory page. We will contact you only if we have a problem.
Thanks for participating.
