Surviving Without Skin: Addendum

3DA#25 How-To by Joel Bellucci / Image by the Author

In Joel Bellucci's spread, "Surviving Without Skin," in 3D Artist issue #25, he explains some organic modeling techniques for creating a dolphin in trueSpace 2. Here are some additional notes to help you find related additional information in the software documentation.--Ed.

Lower Mouth
> Boolean intersection is discussed in the Reference Manual () page 108 and the User's Guide (UG)page 81.
> Sweeping is covered on RM pages 78-80 UG pages 49-53.

Rostrom
> Vertex, edge, and face editing: RM pages 67-72 and UG pages 103-112.

The Bends
> Volume deformation: UG pages 141-147 (not in the RM?).

Putting It All Together
> Free-form polygons are covered on RM pages 114-121 and UG pages 117-124.

The pages cited here aren't necessarily all the pages on that topic. Rather, they are the pages that discuss the particular aspect that I used in creating the dolphin model.

The author's gorgeous spread on pages 22-23 of the issue was designed in large part by him. We welcome contributor participation in laying out pages using our new "textlet" style of how-to article design. If you have ideas for a how-to article, please <contact us> (but please don't send images or other large files without first getting special instructions).--Ed.
