Leafy Layers
How-To by Rodger Reynolds / Images by the Author
This article shows how to make tree trunks and cookie-cut (opacity or transparency) maps to create great looking deciduous trees in Animation Master. The leaf mapping concept should translate almost directly to most other 3D applications.
This large file (very large by 3dartist.com standards) is provided to show close-in detail to people seeking to better understand the concept explained in the article. It shows three full-resolution close-ups of different leaf results as taken from the Contents page image in 3DA#26.
