Columbine, Inc., publisher of 3D Artist (3DA) magazine and this Web site, protects the privacy of magazine subscribers, inquirers, single-issue purchasers, and site visitors by using in only appropriate ways the information that is available to it, and such as may be gathered and maintained, as detailed here. Tracking We do not track individuals' visits to this site. We do NOT use "cookies," we do not look for Pentium III serial numbers, and we do NOT watch for either repeat visits or personal patterns of site usage. E-mail addresses We do NOT harvest E-mail addresses or other info about site visitors. We DO archive E-mail messages sent to us, and we DO maintain a database of 3DA subscriber E-mail addresses. This information is not ever made available to outside parties by sale or otherwise, and we ourselves do NOT engage in the lowly practice of "spamming." (Longtime readers/visitors will remember that, a couple of years ago, our old TESS online newsletter E-mailing list was transferred to a new publisher, which promised that that list would continue to receive protection.) __ We may on rare occasion broadcast information to 3DA subscribers about 3D industry news, issue status or other 3DA news, seeking article submissions for special topics, and such. (The last broadcast was over a year ago.) Subscribers who do not wish to receive these broadcasts can stop reception by sending a simple "no broadcasts" message. Physical addresses We DO, of course, maintain a database of "snail mail" addresses for everyone who subscribes to 3D Artist magazine and/or purchases single issues, and also of many people who make inquiry. This address database is NOT currently available to outside parties. However, the list on rare occasion in the past was shared in a closely restricted fashion with a select number of companies preparing to mail information that we judged would be of interest to large numbers of our readers: e.g., special offers and upgrade announcements on 3D products, special events, etc. __ While it is current policy not to let the mailing list out, we do reserve the right to do so in the careful fashion practiced on occasion in past years. Current subscribers who prefer can send a message to <orders@3dartist.com> asking to have your subscriber database record flagged to be restricted. To take effect, this message must include your name and either your subscriber number (found at the top of your mailing label) or identifying mailing address info. Survey data We occasionally conduct surveys of our readers. This information is only used inhouse for compiling general statistics, such as determining user constituencies, and not for targeting individuals by specific interest (e.g., 3D Studio users). Credit card data We do not have a secure method for receiving credit card orders through forms on this site, but we have had great success with taking very many orders where the customer sends partial credit card numbers. The one or two remaining number groups are then sent by separate E-mail. Alternatively, the remaining info (or the full card number) can be called in or faxed. Some people print out the completed online order form and fax that, instead of using the Internet. Please do what feels most convenient and comfortable to you. Auditing Our database is open to onsite inspection by appropriate advertiser representatives for purposes of verifying magazine distribution numbers, but the data observed cannot be removed from our office. Responsibility The person responsible for maintaining this Privacy Policy is __ Bill Allen, President, Columbine, Inc. and Editor/Publisher, 3D Artist who may be reached at <ballen@3dartist.com> or by writing to P.O. (Note that we are on Mountain Time, which is an hour ahead of the U.S. West Coast and two hours behind the East Coast.) __ Columbine was founded in 1986, incorporated in 1987, began publishing 3D Artist in 1991, and established this Web site in mid-1995.
